Maybe This Donkey Isn’t Dead After All!

In the 1990’s there was a comedy series about a TV newsroom

drop the dead donkey

The title came from the idea that when an important news story breaks[outbreak of WW3/abdication of Queen etc] then the lesser story is dropped [donkey dies at Blackpool]

This morning I got up very early and switched on the computer in order to listen to BBC 3 Counties Radio, and hear myself being interviewed.

[to be honest I was in such a dream on Tuesday, I have no idea what I had said, so IO felt I ought to listen properly to my gibberings]

But the story appears to have been dropped, in favour of Dale Farm Evictions, and Cage Fighting. I went to school feeling like the Dead Donkey. I did a morning’s supply teaching and then came home. Bob said there had been another phone call from Stephen Fleming regarding press releases etc.

Since then, I have had an interview with our local newspaper – the Leicester Mercury [story going out tomorrow] and been invited in to the studios at BBC Radio Leicester tomorrow morning to record an interview to be broadcast on Monday.

Looking very calm, very dignified, with his legs in the air, came Eeyore from beneath the bridge.
'It's Eeyore!' cried Roo, terribly excited.
'Is that so?' said Eeyore, getting caught up by a little eddy, and turning round three times.'I wondered.'
'I didn't know you were playing,' said Roo.
'I'm not,' said Eeyore.

'He's going round and round,' said Roo, much impressed…
'Not round and round,' said Eeyore. 'It's much more difficult. I didn't want to come swimming at all to-day,' he went on, revolving slowly. 'But if, when in, I decide to practise a slight circular movement from right to left - or perhaps I should say,' he added, as he got into another eddy, 'from left to right, just as it happens to occur to me, it's nobody's business but my own.'
There was a moments silence while everybody thought.

Feeling as if I too am being caught up in little eddies of excitement- but much less dignified than Eeyore about it all. However, if Max Clifford rings, please tell him I don’t need an agent, Bob is handling all my publicity thank you.
